MikeyDude's Helmet Fitting Method

The helmet should be snug without causing any pressure points. And it should stay on your head in case of that one time when you need it. It won't do any good if it flies off. So... When trying on a helmet, put it on and secure the chin strap. It should be tight, but not so tight that it chokes you. Grab the helmet by the sides and try to move it from side to side. It shouldn't move. You should feel the skin on your cheeks move, but the helmet should not slip around on your head. It does, it doesn't fit. Now, shake your head violently from side to side. Is there any moving of the helmet on your head? If there is, it doesn't fit. Now for the most important test... Reach over the top of your head and firmly grab the back of the helmet, and try to pull it off, over your head. If it comes off, it doesn't fit. Pull hard, you don't want a helmet that comes off in a crash. After this, just wear the helmet around the store for a little while... 30 minutes is plenty. If you have any pressure spots or can feel any pain, take it off and continue looking. You can tell a pressure spot by any red spots on your forehead and cheeks. You may also want to bump the helmet with the palm of your hand to get an idea of how loud it is too...
